Beatstrab facilitates fully automated copying of music albums using stream recording via the soundcard. The recorded audio stream is cut it into single tracks using silence detection and additional album meta information (acquired by webservice). Recording is easy by providing a Loopback-Mode (records what you hear when playing back music on your computer). All files are tagged automatically.
Unlike other programs, Beatstrab does not try to identify the current music title by analyzing the recorded audio stream. Therefore, you let Beatstrab identify the album meta information first by providing the artist / band name and the album title. The complete track list (including the track lengths) and further meta information used for tagging is then resolved by using a webservice which connects to an open music encyclopedia. The advantage is, that by actually knowing the track lengths in advance, errors in cutting the tracks from the recorded stream can be minimized.
